The Unexpected Trip

Sometimes, it happens when you have to go somewhere you reach some other place; here I would say:

Jana tha manipal/mangalore pahunch gaye Mumbai; samajh gaye na

Yes, after planning a lot; I got ready to visit Manipal with my sister last week; but as the destiny plays; it played with us also our plan got changed and we got down at Mumbai and planned to spend our days there and enjoy the pleasurable activities of the Rain God.

With no other alternative to wait till Monday as we had to visit the University; we planned to go to Khandala & Lonavala for a day. During rainy season Mumbai is very different as it is otherwise; anyways we were staying in the New Mumbai area which is having much broader lanes; nice highways which easily shows how the mountains have covered the road lanes from all the sides.

After the morning tea; we went to our drive to the interesting destination with couple of halts in between; we crossed down the lane enjoying every second with the Rain God and without Sun God. Here we reached out first halt: Wax Museum which was created by an Indian from Southern lands; the statues were of great personalities like Rajiv Gandhi; Michael Jackson, A R Rehman, Hitler and many more…soon we were thru after meeting all the waxed personalities and the weather was also helping us in lighting up our moods.

Further the car tyres and steering took us to hunt the Karla Caves which were built on height of 150 meters. The caves of Karla date back to the 2nd century BC and are known for their Chaitya Hall, intricate sculptures and pillars with ingenious architecture. A number of sculptures cut out of rock, based on numerous animals as well as different forms of human life, adorn the caves of Karla.

Hunting the caves and visiting the Karla Temple we started our way back down hill to reach to our next destination crossing the lanes and enjoying the pleasant breeze. The last destination for the day was the Lions Point which is located 12 Km from Lonavala is a spectacular tourist place. The 12 Km stretches of road passes through sharp curves and hills.

The view of deep valley is mind blowing; standing at that very point at one time you feel that you are flying in whole valley. No doubt the valley is dangerous but on the other hand it gives hair-raising view from the hilltop. Apart from the small tea-pakora vendors there was one more attraction of a person with telescope which on meagre price of Rs.10 was showing 4 different points in and around the valley.

Enjoying the sweet candy (chikki) from Lonavala; we headed back to home and planned for our Day 2; which was to visit the Colleges and University. The life-line of Mumbai i.e. local train and we traveled in the life-line for all the days; the main thing to notice in the travel time is when you notice everyone being busy with themselves only or with their own group they are not even concerned whether or what you are doing in front of them.

This kind of small visits and rain dancing help to de-stress and enjoy some mini vacation like this one. I am quiet optimistic soon I may plan another one short trip and explore the unseen world and share with my readers.
