Attar Therapy

There are many therapies for body and soul but there is one which is so unique i.e. Attar Therapy.

The attar, crafted mainly from herbs, spices and flowers that grow on the Indian subcontinent, have flourished across the world. It is said that every attar has its own USP and an effect.

LAVENDER

Fragrance: soft, sweet, floral smell used primarily for relaxation; must not be used generously as it can be nauseating.

Benefits: This fragrance soothes the muscles and nerve endings providing an instant relief from stress. It is useful for treating sleeping disorders as it helps in calming the mind and relaxing the muscles.

Persona: People who wear Lavender project an image of a relaxed friendliness, compassion and composure. It is a favoured incense for introducing yourself to new friend groups or for breaking the ice with a family.

MOGRA

Fragrance: strong, distinct, floral essence is considered the smell of spring. It is a part of the motia family of attars. Not advised for day use as the plant flowers at night.

Benefits: Mogra is an instant mood up lifter. It is said to be greatly beneficial to keep mild depression at bay. It stimulates a surge of "happy hormones" in the body and generates a sense of well-being from withon the system. Given this trait of the essence, it helps in the treatment of spasms of any kind. It is also a potent aphrodisiac.

Persona: It is the essence of romantics. It adds a bit of flirtatious courage to an image of confidence. It is suggested for people who need to boost self-confidence.

SANDALWOOD

Fragrance: Extracted from the bark of sandal tree, this is a regal, woody essence. It is one of India's own attars, grown primarily in the southern states where the tree flourishes. It is considered to be the scent of autumn and it primarily worn in the evening.

Benefits: It helps bringing a sense of calm to our minds. Indian sandalwood is considered to be the best as opposed to its Hawaiian and Australian counterparts. The attar is effective in taming fever and seasonal flu and aids in digestion, much like kewda. When applied to the nerve centre under the earlobes, it helps in increasing concentration.

Persona: Sandalwood commands respect. it has been the traditional essence of the Indian nobility and even the great sages were known to use its oil. It is very safe scent and can be worn to any formal occasions.

KHUS

Fragrance: An extract of roots, Khus essence is ideal for the hot and humid Indian summer. It has a very pleasure earthy scent and is referred to as the "oil of tranquility".

Benefits: Khus has been very well known and respected scent in India, specially for its cooling properties. It is a light oil and when used directly on skin is easily absorbed, making it more effective in reaching the blood and muscles directly. Khus oil is effective in treating scars and burns. The scent is known to be effective in taming the quick-tempered. The scent has a cooling effect on the mind, body and spirit.

Persona: Wearing Khus as a perfume is a sign of reconcilliation. It is best for an occasion to settle old scores or to family occasions that you might encounter someone who displeases you. It keeps you calm while letting the other know that you are willing to make amends.

Out of all these since long SANDALWOOD is and I believe will always be my favourite.

I do use attars regularly and I know how the fragrance tentilises your senses and captures your mind, soul and body.
