Twilight

"About 3 things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him and I didn't know how dominant that part might be that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."

These are the words written on the paperback of the novel Twilight written by Stephenie Meyers, the novel shares the romance between a shy school going girl Bella and a vampire Edward; who belongs to the Cullens’ family.

Bella Swan who is the daughter of Chief of Police moves back to Forks and stays with her father while her mother was out with her new husband. Initially Bella never liked the weather in Forks where sun was counted as one of the most irregular visitors in the town; but the twists and turns in her life made her like rather love the town. Her interesting time with twists and turns starts on the very first day at the school when she met Edward Cullen one of the adopted son from Dr. Cullen’s family. His weird behaviour when he acts whenever he sees her and when one day he saved her from an accident in the school parking; makes Bella to decide strongly to discover the reason of why Edward is behaving in this manner.

After her rigorous research and getting a hint from one of her family friend Bella discovered that Cullens are vampires who drink animal blood rather than human as other vampires does. Gradually as time passes Bella and Edward came closer to each other and this was the time when he confessed that he initially avoided Bella because the scent of her blood was too desirable to him. Over time, Edward and Bella fall in love.

Their relationship was disturbed when another vampire came to know about the relationship of Cullens with a human and he wanted to hunt Bella. The Cullens attempt to distract him by splitting up Bella and Edward, and Bella is sent far from Forks. There, Bella receives a phone call from James, who claims to be holding her mother, when Bella surrenders herself, James attacks her. Before she is killed, Edward, along with the other Cullens, rescues her and defeats James. Once they realize that James has bitten Bella's hand, Edward successfully sucks the venom from her blood and prevents her from becoming a vampire, after which she is brought to a hospital.

The story is told in first person from the perspective of Bella, so the reader only ever know what she knows, making Edward and his family a mystery that is slowly unravelled through out the book.

Twilight is simply and yet beautifully written. The descriptions of Forks leave us with a feeling as if we can almost smell the damp air and hear the rain falling on the roof. The romance between Edward and Bella is both touching and compelling. There is a melancholic feel to their impossible love, yet at the same time they both are unwilling to give up hope that their relationship is not doomed. The book reaches a fever pitch of excitement as the romance between Bella and Edward turns into a frantic race to stay alive.

Film-makers have also made a movie from this novel in such a manner that while watching the movie I could remember what I read in the novel and vice-a-versa. This novel continues in parts as: New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn

Further Stephenie Meyer plans to write Midnight Sun which is Edward's Version of Twilight.

After watching Twilight and New Moon I am dying to watch other movies and also to continue reading all the parts of the novel:)
