YES WE CAN

When Obama in his speech said Yes We Can; which was probably heard by everyone pan-globe and accepted well with both the hands open for CHANGE and ACCEPTING THE MISTAKES done in past but not crying on it; rather taking ways out to cover the gap and get results.

Standing on the podium and addressing the mass he just had a goal clear in his mind that Yes We Can. Taking everyone along with him; he dint even had a single doubt that something bad will happen. As the world was happy and accepting change so were he and his colleagues.

Some quotes from Mr. President:

“The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year, or even one term,…..”

“There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way its been done in America for 221 years. ….”

“…..This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

Here at this juncture if we compare him to one of a CEO/Presidents of any Indian companies; will this be the same scenario? First question comes are these people ready to accept the change? Is the organization so open and broad to accept the challenge and cross the hurdles to fill in the gap? I have worked with Big Groups and other mid size companies as well; the difference which I have seen is that if the back bone of any company is not sound on financial front still things can manage in a decent manner but the major requirement which is of intellect and open mind if that is lacking then no one can help anyone in that company.

One should also consider giving full credit to the colleagues, employees and each and every person attached with the victory in building up the infrastructure of the company from zero to 1000 or may be more than that.

They also believe that the goals set are to be achieved together. There are many companies where failures are not accepted nor do they appreciate that any of the officials saying “can not do” syndrome during the course of implementation. To achieve the goals; everyone is expected to perform their duty well and going extra miles.

As Jack Welch says who was considered as the CEO of the last century, If I had to run a company on three measures, those measures would be:

• Customer satisfaction
• Employee satisfaction and
• Cash flow

These points were very well taken in older eras but now I believe that employee satisfaction is one major point which some companies just ignore and do not act upon seriously. The outcome then results into increasing rate of employee attrition and their dissatisfaction with the company.

It has also been observed that in an organization some people are not very much experimental with the way they work and some are just the opposite. The non-experiment people stick on same position for years and years and some are the jumping jacks of an organization (some times they jump to different positions inside the organization and sometimes outside in few organizations).

Every one has their own views as to who is good and reliable and whose is not.

Oops I can write more on this adding all of mine and others’ experiences….but will limit my train of thoughts here only which I believe will give a food of thought to my readers as well…would love to have your comments on the same.
